At this rate, we should know pretty well Tuesday where approximate landfall will be. And based on current timeline, it should be well past us by the weekend, so shouldn't impact anyone's travel plans to SoWal for the holiday weekend as long as it makes landfall to the east of us.

Hm. CAT 2 = 100mph winds on its present path and anticipated strength. If Idalia turns slightly left we could be facing catastrophic damage. Flooding, surge. I'm out of here on Tuesday.

The cone has also tightened which is a good sign if you're outside of it.

Only if you want to void your deposit and miss out on some amazing weather.

Fun fact: Areas near, but not impacted by the storm generally have days of amazing clear mild weather after a tropical event moves through.

Depends on several things such as "do you feel lucky".

Weather Channel star Jim Cantore in Cedar Key, Florida

Interest about the celebrity meteorologist's whereabouts in Florida continue to flood social media. Cantore was trending for much of Monday on Twitter. The Facebook post by Ken Block of Sister Hazel had thousands of shares as of Monday night.

A Twitter user whose handle is Lt. Col. William Reid tweeted a photo from a Cedar Key restaurant, presumably Steamers: "Ran into the Jim Cantore while having dinner."

Cedar Key looks to be screwed.

I don't think you'll see much in the way of damage reports. Cedar Key was built with the natural area in mind. They're also smart enough to leave.

There are a lot of old homes that will get washed away.

Pretty scary the path is directly toward us right now until it takes an expected turn to the east.

Unless you hear jets suddenly flying over it'll turn.

FYI - 98 construction isn't complete or close to finished, FDOT just requires all traffic devices to be removed prior to the storm.
