A wedding from Saturday sunset (no, I don't shoot weddings) 4/16/05 and some beach pics from 4/17/05, another special day.

The water is still not completely clear yet but getting close. The lake is still open to the Gulf but looks like it will close this week if we don't get any more rain.

Great pictures! If I could do it over again, I'd love to get married on the beach! Maybe I can talk my daughter into it in 20 or 30 years.

I've heard some people get married more than once.

To the same person.

Maybe if we move down there, we can start our new journey by getting married "again"- this time on the beach like we should've done 14 years ago.

How about renewing your vows every five years? Not, scared of committment are you?

We live our vows everyday so why would I have to renew them every five years??? This board is getting a little too mushy! :)

Thanks Old Timer! That is a HUGE compliment. I am aspiring to be be a junior photographer. I take notes when looking at Kurt's incredible photographs. I think Kurt's beautiful photography inspires many people to take photos as well as seize the day.

By the way Kurt, I have another idea for you. I would be all over this idea if I thought I had the talent. I think you could photograph, edit, & sell Yearbooks for Grayton Beach or the Beaches of South Walton. In particular, this book would include a daily photograph of the sunset from one particular location. You would have a new book each year, with no two photos the same. I could help fill in on days when you are not there. What do you think?

Thanks  I hope the photos I post don't discourage others from posting theirs. I love looking at other peoples pics.

As for the book, that is a great idea except for the days where there is noe sunset to speak of. Then you start thinking about subbing days, then you might as well just pick your favorites and fill in with other stuff. Your idea sounds familiar. Are you sure you're not a slim blonde girl I know.

I've thought about a few different bool ideas and I'm getting a pretty good collection to choose from. Maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to find a publisher. Right now I enjoy showing them on the web and selling here and there. A little bit of socialized photography.

With all the sunset photos taken around here, I am certain that my idea could not be original, and I guarantee you that I am neither slim, nor blonde.

Sunset or not, the daily photos show the life of the Beach, not too different from the seasons in the mountains. While not all sunsets are spectacular, the Beach does have a life filled with changes. The photos would show how the Beach moves around through the particals of sand. I think it would certainly be interesting to see the changes day to day. You could see spring break be totally opposite of the lull shortly thereafter. Memorial Day would roll around with big crowds, then Independence Day, etc. People from far away would be able to see the Beach's year round life.

Just an idea, which is yours to take, leave, or modify. :D

Remember, that the position of the sunset changes according to the angle of the sun. In the winter, the sun sets to the southwest over the Gulf. In the summer, beach front property owners with a straight view to the south can't see the sunset over the water because it shifts so far to the northwest. One photo location all year wouldn't work too well.

I find it very interesting how nature signals the changing of the seasons in this area. Most of the native vegetation is evergreen and the scrub oaks lose their leaves in the spring! However, there is no doubt the time of year when you know which insects are in "season". Yellow flies in the spring, deer flies in the fall, Monarchs migrating to Mexico in the fall, love bugs, dragon flies all appear during certain seasons. I also enjoy the wildflowers that bloom in late September after is starts to cool off.

I think the interesting part of taking the photo from the same place is to see the movement of the sun over time -- watching the change, not necessarily the sunset itself, but thanks for the reminder. There in lies the problem of making the book. Some people would say, "that is not a good picture, why did they put that in the book?" Maybe the book could be titled, "A Year of Change at Grayton 2005," and 2006, 2007, etc. so that people could link to the concept.

If ONE person likes the photos you are taking, it should be worth your while to post them here. I love your photos,
I can only be there once in a while, and you bring me home. I thank you very much for all the photos! :clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1: :clap_1:
