I was there yesterday and Pcola beach is a mess. Many homes have been removed, some are 1/2 standing and many are more or less fine or have been repaired. Construction and repairs going on all up and down the beach.

There is sand everywhere and very little vegetation.

One that had been buried by the storm and then found by a bulldozer. There were a few vehicles like that here and there.

Imagine your town buried under 6 feet of sand overnight.

Sad and sobering indeed. :( Thanks for sharing those photos.

Not too unlike Alys Beach, is it??? There is great beauty in functionality.

Hey I think that I have seen this house and owner/arcitech on a TV special on Discovery Channel. Good idea, looks like it stayed through the storm well.

And before there was the dome house on Pensacola Beach, there was the Spaceship House, which is now going to become the Pensacola Beach historical museum-

http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051202/NEWS01/512020342/1006

he "spaceship house" on Pensacola Beach is morphing into a museum.

"One of only 20 Futuro homes worldwide, the flying saucer-shaped dwelling perched atop a cinder-block launch pad has been a beach landmark for more than 30 years.

It draws attention from locals, tourists, design and sci-fi enthusiasts -- and especially children who look for the green alien heads propped in the home's oval windows, said owner Victoria Clarkin, 48.

After Hurricane Ivan struck in September 2004, Clarkin received thousands of e-mails from people worldwide interested in the fate of the odd structure at 1304 Panferio Drive.

"You wouldn't believe how crazy people are about that spaceship," she said. "In any given afternoon in the summer, I've counted up to 500 people who stop and take a picture of it."
