Seagrove Beach

Seagrove Beach and Seagrove are used interchangeably. The town along the Gulf is in the heart of South Walton, and along with Grayton Beach is where tourism really took off in SoWal in days gone by.
Small cement block cottages along the bluff stood for decades, harboring vacations and standing up to storms off the Gulf. Most have been replaced with giant houses and sprawling condos, but the old charm remains, especially in “Old Seagrove on the western end, with tree-lined streets, twisty oaks, and old cottages.
Eastern Lake is perfect for nature lovers seeking unspoiled exploration. Enjoy canoeing, kayaking, swimming and more in this quaint town with Old Florida charm. East of Eastern Lake on the edge of Seagrove is the spectacular Deer Lake State Park with its long walkover across a massive dune field, leading to the Gulf.
Back in the 1940s and 1950s, families came to Seagrove Beach to rent modest one-story cottages with paddle fans instead of air conditioning, and wide-screened porches (perfect for sleeping). The same families returned to Seagrove Beach year after year, and now second and third generations make the journey.
Many of those charming Seagrove cottages still exist, although they’ve been updated for today’s travelers and are now thoroughly shaded by mature scrub trees and plants. Read about the beloved Seagrove Villas Motel
Swimming and sandcastle building were once the most popular pastimes at Seagrove Beach, since there weren’t many commercial ventures in the Seagrove Beach area. Now there are many options for recreation as well as dining. Eastern Lake and Deer Lakes provide wonderful spots for quiet reflection.
